Most of us have a deep longing for stability. We love the “guarantees” of life. The paradox is when things remain too constant we may then begin to long for some variety. In our relationship with our God we delight in His strong statements such as “I will never leave you or forsake you” Heb. 13:5 and Jesus reassures Believers “Be sure of this, I am with you always even to the end of the age” Matt. 28:20. Wonderful reassurance of the Holy Spirit’s present with us in every circumstance. Our God never has a bad day or one too filled with more urgent details that would keep Him from His constant companionship and valuable resource for our lives—Always. His love for us and deep commitment to our wellbeing is an amazing joy and comfort. Then we need to address our response to His close involvement and connection to all areas of our lives. We are instructed to respond to life by “Always giving thanks for all things” Eph. 5:20 and “In everything give thanks for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” I Thess. 5:18. What? This instruction may seem harsh and impossible if we misunderstand its purpose. We want to learn to Always give thanks quickly in the midst of any circumstances for the wonderful presence of our God in the circumstances with us. We have an enemy who may initiate the storms in our lives but we have a savior who will use the storm winds to carry us into something valuable. This world is not our home. We will be, at times, subject to joys and pains that accompany the earthly life we have been given. Take Heart. We have an amazing Helper who will enable us to use for good those things that come into our lives—Always.
