Some Broken things cause us great heartache….a treasured item, a valued relationship or an important commitment. The pain is most significant when there doesn’t appear to be a way to mend the brokenness. We have a God who presses very close to us in those times. Ps.34:18 says “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”. He gathers us to Himself and walks with us in the night of this sadness. There is another Brokenness that is a source of great rejoicing! He will break the yoke and tear off the things that bind us. Once He has broken off the yoke that is heavy He will yoke Himself with us “Take My yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you shall find rest for your souls for my yoke is easy and my load is light” Matt. 11:28 . Our God will always have assignments for us but He does not ask us to work unaided. Believers have a helper who will help us break the negative things from our lives. All of us have things that are limiting our journey; things that need to be broken off our journey. We need Him to help us to identify and then do the necessary things to break them from our lives. “He heals the broken hearted” Ps.147:3. Here is some more good news. The medical profession tells us that broken bones are stronger in the broken places!
