There are wonderful books, articles and presentations with the theme “Happiness is a Choice”. I believe it but I don’t always practice it. Most of us feel that Happiness is a set of circumstances. When those set of circumstances change in a negative way, in our opinion – it draws down on our capacity for happiness. We like to think that some people are just “naturally” happy. We may also think they are naïve or simple. That they are just unable to seethe reasons to be sad etc. Through quite a bit of experience I’ve decided to go with the smart people and latch on to the mindset that my happiness is indeed my choice. That doesn’t mean that I’ve learned to deny reality. In fact, choosing to be Happy is a very realistic thing to do if you are a Believer. God says He will make “beauty out of ashes”. “You have turned my mourning into dancing—you have girded me with gladness” Ps. 30:11. Our Father does not minimize our pain but He empathizes with us and leads us through it with a focus on His loving provision and plan for each one who suffers. Sooo we can choose to Be Happy.
