Grudges

We may freely say, “Oh, of course I’ve forgiven them!” We may also say, but under our breath, “But I will never forget it.” These two statements are all too common. Believers may even think they are being wise and prudent to retain the memory of some misdeed or wound. There is a very important principle to keep in mind as we make this “life experience” journey. It is certainly the foolish traveler who does not mark his map to note the disaster areas, the detours and the under construction roadways; but, there may be a day, or a journey when those now closed routes will be open and available. Unforgiveness is an extremely heavy burden to carry. One of the major problems is that this unforgiveness burden so occupies our energy and strength that we are limited in our ability to add new things. We may actually become trapped by these loads of unforgetfulness. It may seem impossible to turn off the memory channel. We do have such a wonderful HELPER. These are the exact times when He desires to move into our lives to help us to make use of the past without being handicapped and burdened with it. Don’t you love knowing “God is at work to will and to work for His good pleasure,” (Philippians 2:1 and “God works all things together for good to those who are called according to His purposes.” (Romans 8:28) Why do we want to struggle along with a load we do not need to carry? Grudges weigh a ton and will give us a back and heart ache. Let’s give them to Him.
