Watering

I have a few house plants that experience various degrees of vigor. This difference

in their well-being is largely due to my watering and fertilizing methods. I tend to treat them all exactly the same because it makes plant care easier! I have a fairly clear memory so I water at the same time, however, I am slow to make note of adjustments that obviously need to be made. One plant is wilted and not thriving—perhaps it needs more water or to be re-potted to have more space. Others’ leaves are turning yellow – too much water or sun? It would be very good if I became a more intentional plant owner. There may be “human” plants that are struggling to grow in our common environment. The scripture talks about a “watering” that comes from the refreshing and nourishing of God’s word. (Ephesians 5:26) Listening to and applying God’s word truly satisfies a thirst that can met no other way. Believers have the benefit of our Heavenly Gardener who is always encouraging us to water our lives with His Word. We are given this watering resource, His Word, to use in a thoughtful way as we move around His earthly garden of Believers and those not yet planted in His garden. “For God is at work within you to will and to work of His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13) God is at work and He loves to see us at work with our watering can of His word and ways, helping to nourish the world around us. We love to see each other watering!
