Yes, you have had a day like this – a day when you have felt on top of the world. Something good has happened. You have been surprised by good fortune. Some may call it a lucky break, but you know it is God who is at work in your world “to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13) These are the times Believers jump up and down (maybe) and sing and praise God. We hug anyone in sight (if that is our style) and we want to do good things to others so they can share our joy. If you are a parent you know what delight it gives you to delight your children. Our Heavenly Father loves to shower us with these times of overflowing joy and delight, but dear ones, He does give us so many of these days, we often fail to see them. We may be so focused on the mosquito that is determined to eat us alive we miss the warmth of family love, a beautiful sunset, and a stuffed refrigerator. I’m not attempting to minimize heartache, disappointment, and wounds, but I am encouraging us all to find the “heart lifters” in the midst of a storm. I’m also urging us to really, truly REJOICE and reap the amazing benefit of joy that will flood our lives and give us that Top of the World feeling: the adrenaline flow, the smiles, the laughter, the optimism, and general feelings of well-being are great health boosters and improve the environment immensely! God is at work in our lives and we have so much reason to anticipate an Over the Top kind of day.
