Failure

Failure is not a word that should be a frequent part of our vocabulary. It certainly isn’t one that we hear God using very often. God speaks of moving forward, of new beginnings, of using and learning from the past. I love that frame of reference. I love to say, “there is no failure only Experience!” Sometimes, we may feel overloaded with experience. I love remembering what Thomas Edison remarked when he was reminded of the thousand or so efforts toward the light bulb that failed. He remarked something like, “Oh, now I know all those things that do not work.” He was learning and gaining experience. What a fabulous attitude. That is exactly the mindset the Believing Pilgrim must choose as we journey along our own path on our very personal Godly assignment. Those things that come to block our path need to be seen as valuable course adjustments. We need to see the setbacks as setups for the great new direction that will be more effective. How amazing to know that our God is at work in our lives on the big and the very small details. There is no failure only experience! “HE (GOD) WILL NOT FAIL YOU.” (Deuteronomy 4:31) Children often rebel at a course change or plans adjusted but mature, skilled workers rejoice over alterations that make improvements. We want to become those sharp, attentive workers who are adding to our knowledge base things that don’t work as we press on to discover (with God’s help) the things that “do” work. “He will not fail you.” (Deuteronomy 4:31) Blessings on the road. God is at work.
