They May Be Right

How defensive we are. Most of us work hard to get the right answers, the right date for the meeting, and the right opinions on life. We work so hard to be right that we become highly defensive of our position. We may even be willing to fight for our “right” opinions. It is important on matters of faith to “study to show ourselves approved” or to arrive at our solid faith positions. However, there are so many other nuances of “actions” and “practices” and “positions” within the life of the Believer, and believe it or not, there is often room for differences and a place for grace as we journey together. When we join our Savior in the new life we will see more clearly, but for now it is important to move through our worlds with “a gentle and quiet spirit.” (I Peter 3:4) We do not need to win every discussion to prove our worth. In fact, it is often the one who is willing to listen to others who is granted the opportunity to express their own views. And by the way, in the family, this seems to be one of the major battlefields. Our understanding of others’ views will help us examine our own perspective and we will be able to express our position in a better way. It is the very wise person who turns on the GPS even if they “think” they know the best or shortest way to a destination. Ask God to help you remain in the “learning” mode. He may be speaking to us through others! It’s hard to take sometimes, but “They May Be Right.”
