My dear Friends, if we were not attempting to go up hill … if we are trying to get to higher ground – to that place where our thoughts and actions are aligning more closely with God’s desire for our lives … then we would also avoid some of the pressures and trials the enemy places on that upward journey. Actually, those trials and pitfalls in a crazy way might be seen as an encouragement. We must be doing something right from God’s perspective or His enemy wouldn’t be on the attack. Just take a moment to think of the spiritual muscles we are developing as we press on to higher ground. When we determine to keep a good attitude when circumstances seem discouraging; when we return good for evil in our relationships; when we step up to help (even though we didn’t receive notice or praise the last time we helped), we are taking the high road and God smiles. “Be strong and courageous.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) Just around the next corner may be the breakthrough to answers and solutions to the issues that concern you. I love knowing that what looks like a mountain to me may be a molehill to others, but my God sees my stress and my need and tells me to Take Heart, He is with me. (John 16:33).
