Who is Watching?

Friends – There is our public self and then there is our private self. Generally, believers make an effort to keep the public view of us under control.  We use appropriate manners; we help those that need help; we’re nice, honest, and helpful.  However, at the end of the day or week, when our good attitude has slipped and we are eager to get on with our own agenda, things may slip a bit. This is when we tend to cut corners, avoid speaking to that cranky person from church, cut someone off (our schedule is more important than theirs), and certainly discard the servant role for the superior role. We may even feel rotten for making this negative shift but console ourselves with the thought that we didn’t behave any differently than the general crowd. We’ll do better another less stressful time; but, dear one, “The eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”  (2 Chronicles 16:9)  We do have an audience 24/7. Our loving God goes with us and stands by us in those moments when we make the choice to cut corners and fail to do our best. His is the strong but understanding voice that urges, “go back, take time, pick it up, do the best thing.”  If we need a hearing aid, He will provide that too. Remember, He is watching.
