Complaining

If there was an academic degree in the field of Complaining –there would quite a few of us who could step up for the award. In fact, some of us could get an advanced degree in the art of finding all the things that are “wrong” with our world, the people in our world, and our own personal set of circumstances. Perhaps you have the misfortune of finding yourself in the midst of this group of people. For some strange reason when I find myself surrounded by these dear folks it brings out the opposite response in me. I may have been silently listing the faults in the meal, the weather, the leaders – until my companions outdo me in complaints and for some reason it helps me to start looking for the good things. I do not want an advanced degree in Complaining. I need to work at a much better attitude that is accompanied by the wisdom to see all the good things that are going on in my world. James 5:7 helps us, “Be patient, therefore friends, until the coming of the Lord. Behold the farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it until it gets the early and the late rains. You too be patient, strengthening your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not complain brethren, against one another that you yourselves may not be judged.” Let’s turn away from complaining. Let’s try it; we might like it!
