Most of us come into the birth season of Jesus with an urge to “Plan.” We begin the lists of gifts, food, events, and personal contacts to make. We love to give our time and treasure where we can. We begin the stress of attempting to match the gifts to resources. We call out to God, “I want to be generous and meaningful in my gift giving.” Often great waves of inadequacy wash over our hearts. We don’t feel up to the wonderful task. We can only see our limitations of time, talent, energy, and funds. Instead of rejoicing we fall into despair or resentment. Why do I have such a large family or why do I have such a small family? Instead of rejoicing we lament. We need a ”Plan” that fits in with the Believers’ promised resources. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:3) God will strengthen me to do the things He directs me to do. Therefore, it’s important to start the planning process by consulting Him. He is the ultimate planning consultant. We take our pad and pencil and sit before Him. We ask Him to direct our plans and He will. Isaiah 41:13 says, “For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand. Who says to you, do not fear, I will help you.” Hoorah! Now we have the right “Plan!”
