Friends this is a wonderful day – Thanksgiving! This day is often filled with good smells, good tastes, good fun, and lots of work for some people. When we come together to celebrate it takes planning and effort to make it happen. Most of us think the work and effort a small price to pay for the bonus of friends and family gathering together; however some of us celebrate this day in a solo setting. For many different reasons, it is not always possible to gather with a group, but it is always possible to celebrate the day with Thanksgiving. With or without the company of others, believers love to take the time to count their blessings and give great thanks to the good Giver of our blessings, large and small. Perhaps we need an important additional note. There are times when our lives seem filled with dark clouds and sadness. This is also the time to pour out our Thanksgiving for our God who is working for good in the midst of sorrow and loneliness. “For it is God who is at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13) It gives our God great pleasure to comfort and bless His children. One more reason to celebrate with great Thanksgiving!
