Self Control

“But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and Self Control.” (Galatians 5:22)   It’s interesting to me that Self Control is the last fruit mentioned. In my experience it must be because I have difficulty allowing the Spirit of God to grow these fruit in my life without the very necessary fruit of Self Control. I desire to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, and good with lots of patience, but without our God’s enabling me to develop self control I fail. I allow irritations and impatience to wipe out my efforts to display these fruits to those I love and those I desire to bless. My impatience, judgmental nature, and personal agenda take over. I am so grateful that our wonderful God is at work in my life (and it is a full time job) to work SELF CONTROL into my responses. Self Control is needed for positive as well as negative expressions. Our Heavenly Father wants to share all these wonderful fruits through our lives and I praise Him for helping me with the fruit of Self Control.
