Friends, there are good “Goodbyes” and not so good “Goodbyes.” The end of the year is generally flooded with both categories. I love to think of paring down and tossing excess in all its forms. On the other hand, I do somewhat resist change. I’m hesitant to give up good for better sometimes because it involves change. The end of a year is a great time to pull aside from the journey to unpack the current baggage and plan for repacking for the amazing wonderful year ahead. I’m amazed at God. If He were to ask my advice I’d probably say, “That’s enough effort in that direction. Let’s forget it,” or “You’ve already tried that and it didn’t seem to work,” or “This is good enough, isn’t it?” You will be glad to know God does not ask my advice and I have long ago realized I am not up for the job. He loves to hear my heart and my preferences as does any loving parent, but He always does what is best – with or without my approval. Dear Ones on the journey, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) Happy New Year!
