Gardeners and plant owners are two different breeds. Gardeners love to wander the aisles of plant stores. They hover over shelves of fertilizers and pesticides and collect the best gardening books. Their intent is to enhance the lives of their plants – to bring them to their maximum potential. Plant owners often expect plants to take care of themselves. If they happen to remember, they pour water on the plants whether or not they need it. The healthy growth of the plants involved is easily predicted. As Believers we need to recognize our need for food and water; not just when it’s convenient but on a regular basis. Our spiritual vitality and emotional health needs a daily, generous dose of God and an intimate exposure to His guidance. We may see ourselves as a vigorous, hardy, desert plant – one that can survive on a once a week dose of watering with the word of God from the pulpit. In reality, as the true Gardener knows, we human plants need a daily deep soaking with God’s wisdom and direction. Dear Friends, if you haven’t tried the Gardener’s way – try the dailey method and see what God will do. “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42:2) Give your life the benefit of drinking daily from His Word and watch things flourish!
