Have you noticed those odd people in your world? Particularly those other Believers out there. On some of my worst days I can begin to think that I’m just about the only one who is on the right track. When I get started I can easily go down the checklist of desirable traits and convince myself that I am not doing too badly particularly in comparison to all those other losers. Most of us have extremely high standards for the Christ Followers around us. However, it is strange but we can also fall sadly in the opposite direction with deep demoralizing feelings of failure and inadequacy. We view the world around us as an amazing success team while we stand alone as the loser. When I’m thinking clearly I have to smile at these wild vacillations and determine to put my thinking in a better place. I love Paul’s comment as he opens his letter to the Corinthians “I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus”. He is thankful for all of them because he acknowledges that God is at work in each of us. What a wonderful encouragement and challenge. After all we are also one of those funny people who need grace for the journey. Let’s start thanking our God for those other “lights” out there.
