End of the Rope

Friends, there is an old expression, “When you get to the end of the rope.”  This refers to a situation where we are |”hanging on” in a tough place; finding ourselves losing heart and strength and feeling as if we are at the end of our ability to cope.  The present Corona virus has placed many of us in this position.   We are either dealing with isolation or great overcrowding as we “shelter in.”  We are facing potential changes to our lives that may never be reversed.  The bottom line for many is that we have almost no control over the future and very little over the present.  We cry, “Why doesn’t God do something?”  Dear Ones – God is always at work.  “For it is God who is at work within us to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13)  Our wonderful Lord does not initiate all that passes through our experience BUT He uses it all for our good so our part must be to look and cooperate with the good that He is doing in the midst of all this upheaval.  As His followers we can be that smile and gentle touch, that encouragement for anxiety, and that hopeful messenger to reassure those around us that our God ties a knot in the end of our rope and He will never leave or forsake us.  We will be better!
