Friends, when we think of those people in our world who are “odd,” we often are referring to those who are not like “us.” I’m particularly referring to the wonderful, wide variety of the Followers of Christ. You will find them in so many different church denominations. You will find them in the “start up” mode trying to find their way on their own until they are welcomed into a church family. The world around us view this critical attitude as “normal.” The sad thing is that we Believers may also think it’s normal. Our God calls us to a much higher place. These words in the book of Ephesians say it so well. Ephesians 4:1-3: “… I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” An orchestra makes such beautiful music when each and every instrument performs their very best with their particular musical score. Those “odd” people have their own music and we will benefit from their music. By the way—how surprising to realize that “we” are odd to some of those other people!
